Eglinton
Its design is pattern KGKBKRK — the page of every tartan sharing this colour sequence.
Montgomerie tartan with a narrower ground; relics at Eglinton Castle evidenced its early use, possibly adopted by Ayrshire Montgomeries in 1707.
The Eglinton tartan groups 3 setts — the same named design recorded as different cloths (its kilt, Carpet, Child's…, or a transcription apart). The master sett (★) is the exemplar.
