MacDonald of Sleat
A tartan of the MacDonald of Sleat family. Its design is pattern GRGRK — the page of every tartan sharing this colour sequence.
Devised from an old MacDonald tartan in an Armadale Castle painting; the reconstruction (first published 1908) differs from the original. Also recorded as MacDonald, Lord of the Isles, with an extra black overcheck.
The MacDonald of Sleat tartan groups 4 setts — the same named design recorded as different cloths (its kilt, Carpet, Child's…, or a transcription apart). The master sett (★) is the exemplar.
