- 01/05/1999 — Lanark Highlands (register-of-tartans, record)
An eight-colour tartan for Lanark Highlands - a large township of 1033 square kilometres with a delightful rural landscape of rolling hills, heavily forested areas, rocky terrain and countless clean rivers, streams and lakes. It lies some 75 km southwest of downtown Ottawa and 100 km north west of Kingston. It is sparsely populated with only 4,800 permanent residents plus an additional 6,000 seasonal residents. Lanark Village represents the largest village in the Highlands with a population of 960. Other small communities, consisting of perhaps a general store with a lunch counter and gas bar, a community hall and a church dot the landscape. While Lanark Highlands has a population density of less than 5 persons per square kilometre, some one million persons live within a 90 minute drive. - May 1999 — Lanark Highlands (District) (tartans-authority, record)
