Provenance

Earliest known date: 1819 This design comes from the pattern books of the old firm of weavers, Wilson's of Bannockburn. It has been adopted by the Scottish Tartans Authority as the tartan of their corporate identity, in line with general policy of the time, to avoid the proliferation of tartans.

    Also known as the Scottish Tartans Authority tartan, having been adopted by that organisation for its corporate use. William Wilson and Sons of Bannockburn was a weaving firm founded c1770. The Pattern books are held by the National Museums of Scotland. Copies of the Pattern books and some original letters are preserved in the Scottish Tartans Society archive.
