  • 01/01/1842 — Davidson (register-of-tartans, record)
Recorded in the Public Register of All Arms & Bearings in Scotland 44/89 on 27th July 1961 by Sir David Davidson of Alltdinnie. Scottish Tartans Society noted that D.C. Stewart called this sett 'the more recent' Davidson and the basis for the Henderson tartan. It was included in 'Old and Rare Scottish Tartans' by D.W. Stewart (1893), with a woven sample in silk. This version of the Davidson tartan omits the white stripe of the earlier setts recorded by the Highland Society of London and in the Moy Hall collection. Uniquely among tartans there is also a 'Half Davidson' (STR #897) and a 'Double Davidson' (#896).
