Glenfalloch' - Gaelic meaning "hidden valley" - was built as a private residence last century. Some years ago it was acquired by the Otago Peninsula Trust, to enable the people of Dunedin, New Zealand, and visitors to the area, to enjoy the beautiful gardens. Colours were chosen to represent as follows: Navy Blue - dark shadows in valley, Green/Blue - Overall colours of sea/sky/trees, Salmon Pink/White/Maroon - Wild flowers in season. - pre 2002 — Glenfalloch (Corporate) (tartans-authority, record)
'Glenfalloch' is said to be Gaelic for 'hidden valley' and was a private house built in the 1800s. It was acquired by the Otago Trust to enable the people of Dunedin and visitors to enjoy the gardens. Colours all choson to represent various aspects of the area and its flora.
