Dalgliesh weave. This is the same sett as #2517 (original Scottish Tartans Authority reference) - the only difference being that the broad black bands have been changed to blue. No information on why it has then been given the territorial suffix 'of Atholl' as Moncrieff already came from Atholl. Note from Phil Smith 18th Jan 2005 'Re: 'Moncrieffe of Atholl' Dalgliesh told me that after his father died, young Perigrine Moncrieffe was unhappy with his father's choice and had the new tartan woven. Unsure who designed it, either Moncrieffe or Dalgliesh or both.' - pre 2003 — Moncrieff of Atholl (Clan) (tartans-authority, record)
