  • 01/01/1819 — Wilson's No.234 (register-of-tartans, record)
William Wilson and Sons of Bannockburn was a weaving firm founded c.1770 near Stirling. The archives relating to this business are held by various institutions including the National Museums Scotland and the Scottish Tartans Society. A contemporary version of this tartan (threadcount Red 120, Black 14) has been created by Nick Carpellotti and was woven by Lochcarron of Scotland in Nov 2012. Nick wanted a personal tartan similar to the 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper tartan (STR #3540). A woven sample of this contemporary version of Wilson's No.234 is preserved in the National Records of Scotland.
