Provenance

Earliest known date: c.1900 The distinctive and elaborate Anderson tartan can be found in many minor variations dating back to the beginning of this century. The Highland Society of London began to collect specimens of tartans in 1815, but the Anderson sample appears to have been added at a later date, there being no reference to its place in the collection in early records. Anderson is recognised as a name in more than one of the Highland Clans including Clan Ross and Clan Donald.
