United Distillers

This is one variant — a specific cloth: this exact thread count and colourway, with its own provenance below. It is one weaving of the sett (the scale-free proportion — the same cloth at any scale or shade), whose colour order is pattern GYKYBY.

Sourced from register-of-tartans. It is a 6 stripe tartan.

  • 01/01/1990 — United Distillers (register-of-tartans, record)
Presumably designed by James Welstead. Said to be a fine example of good style when weaving a different warp and weft. WR asked for in the thread count: assumed it meant wine red. Three samples in Scottish Tartans Authority Johnston Collection. There is another tartan designed by Kinloch Anderson in 1990. Colour shades are quite wrong here - need to get warp and weft from Lochcarron.
  • pre 1991 — United Distillers (Corporate) (tartans-authority, record)
Presumably designed by James Welstead. Said to be a fine example of good style when weaving a different warp and weft. Three samples in STA Johnston Collection.
