Designed by Geoffrey (Tailor) Highland Crafts of Edinburgh and Mungo Jamie Tennent in loving memory of his father William Prentice Tennent. Blue for the River Avon which runs through Strathaven in South Lanarkshire. White for the heather associated with good fortune, red for the Tennent blood line and green for the fertile lands of Avondale. This tartan may not be woven or worn without the express permission of the copyright holder Jamie Tennent. - undated — Tennent from Strathaven (register-of-tartans, record)
The colours record: red for the blood of the Tennent line; Green for the fertile lands of Avondale; Blue for the water of the Avon; White for the heather associated with good fortune. The design was authorised by Mr Mungo Jamie Tennent in memory of his father, William Prentice Tennent and all the Tennents past and present.
