This is the McKinley sett, used originally by the Argyll Group. The name was changed to Safeway in December 1997. - pre 1997 — Safeway (Corporate) (tartans-authority, record)
This in fact is the MacKinlay tartan 'hijacked' and given another name. Renaming of an existing clan tartan is unacceptable and would not now be recorded or 'allowed'. The new name was orignally 'Argyll Group' and was changed to Safeway in December 1997 - presumably on a takeover of some description. Colours very much darker than shown here - blue, green & black being almost indistinguishable.
